Editing Day 2- Song Lyrics?

Quoting is liking someone's work. Today, I'll be showing a new edit of mine where I decided to quote from a song and use a line from it in my edit. The song is called Sick of it by Skillet, it's an amazing song in my view, therefore I had to use a line or two from it in my newest edit.

Adding effects is customising. Here, I have decided to use the same purple effect as I did in my previous edit. To be frank, the purple orbs are actually lens flares available in Picsart's editing options. I highly recommend Picsart as your main editing app, it has wonderful features and most of them are free.

Side by side comparison of my edit and the original picture.

Comparing is noting similarities and differences. After my usual side by side comparison of the finished and original work, I can clearly see the power of effects.

Arranging is placing things to where they belong. You really have to feel this one. No one, not even me, can tell you where and how to put your text one, and what fonts to use. I have decided to use a rather bubbly font. My reason for this choice is that on the original picture, Ezra is stealing a TIE pilot's helmet, which is his beloved hobby, he collects helmets. What he does is not serious, therefore a lighter font would fit this edit.

Edits contain feelings. I have mixed feelings about this piece of work, since the original picture and my choice of font is rather funny, whereas the quote I picked from the song is more serious. Honestly, I am not sure why it came out the way it did. Sometimes, you just have to let your feelings guide you.

My First Edit!

After watching the character introductions on YouTube, I picked out a quote by Ezra and created my very first edit!
In the beginning of the video, I caught a simple sentence; "Look, I work alone!"
Editing is changing things. This edit is based on one of the pictures I found on Google Images. What I did to it is simply adding effects to it to make it look different. The original picture was dark, so I decided to lighten it a bit, giving it a whole new look. The following picture will show the difference an effect can make.
Before and after editing
Differences show creativity. Using one of my favourite editing apps, Picsart, I gave the original picture a purple effect, then a white glare right next to Ezra's head. The reason why I did it is that this glare can highlight the text I added on later.

The text is the message. The main point of an edit is to add messages on a picture, and that is exactly what I did. Edits are a way of telling a story or situation, and in my case, they are necessary. And how did I add the text to my picture? I did not use Picsart for it, I used a different app called PicCollage. PicCollage is my favourite editing app, and I always add text to my pictures with it.

Font and colour always counts. To make an edit look good, I have to think about the font that would fit the picture. Choosing a serious font, like Times New Roman, to a picture full of quirky things would not be the best choice. The font always completes a picture, so it is important to choose wisely. The colour of the font is very important as well, picking a green font on my picture wouldn't have been too nice.

To crop is to select. Looking close and compare the two pictures that already have the effect, you can see how I cropped the picture, the black cover is barely shown on the outcome. I did this change because I thought Ezra's outfit is less important, I wanted to focus on his face, his expression. By cropping out less important parts, I'm leaving what is the most important, what counts.

A good edit reflects feelings. Since Star Wars Rebels didn't come out yet, I am not sure in what situation will Ezra say "Look, I work alone!". In my case, I had to guess it, so I chose a bit sad looking picture, and added bright colours, effects to it to show how the situation is not too serious. I do not know more than you about the upcoming show, so I'm just going to guess and make things up, make my edits up.

Hello!

Hello there! Is the Force with you? Make sure it is! Get ready for a Blog full of fan-made things!

First of all, I'm extremely happy to have a blog like this. I always wanted a place where I can truly be myself without being criticised by anyone. I hope it's gonna stay peaceful like this, since although I'm using the pictures Disney owns, I still edit and customise them so I can put my watermarks on my edits.

Edits tell a story. I mainly edit pictures, adding effects to them to make them fit a situation. I also add text to them to make the stories complete. Text can be anything, a song lyrics, a quote, or even something you make up. I really enjoy doing this since once I got to understand the aim of editing, I found happiness in creating and changing pictures.

Stories come from different places. Editing is not the only way to interpret something. Writing fan-fictions can also explain how one imagines a story. I really enjoy writing about already existing characters and situations, especially about anything that connects to Star Wars. I wouldn't say the places and characters I write about are mine, I don't own anything Star Wars related, so when I say written by me, keep in mind that I only own the piece of writing as the idea was mine.

Again, I'm not associated with Disney or Lucasarts, I'm just a fan posting anything Star Wars inspires me to make.
